On January 11, 2024, Christa Müller, Editor-in-Chief of the journal ACS Pharmacology & Translational Science, received the ACS Publications Journal Influence Award at the ACS Conference of Editors in La Jolla, CA, USA. Congratulation!

Prof. Dr. Kostenis was awarded the PHOENIX Pharmazie-Wissenschaftspreis 2023 in the category Pharmaceutical Biology.

Prof. Dr. Ulrich Jaehde is among the winners of the national competition "Professor of the Year 2023". He finished in 3rd place in the category Medicine/Natural Sciences behind Prof. Dr. Sonja Bröer (Freie Universität Berlin) and Prof. Dr. Christian Laforsch (University of Bayreuth). The "Professor of the Year" competition of the UNICUM Foundation has been taking place for 18 years and is under the patronage of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research and the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection. Three places are awarded in each of four categories. A jury headed by the former HRK Vice President and Dean of the University of Duisburg-Essen, Prof. Dr. Ulrich Radtke, decides who will become Professor of the Year. The Rector of the University of Bonn, Prof. Dr. Michael Hoch, congratulates: "I am very pleased that the many years of successful work at our university have received appropriate recognition in this way. And this is even more important regarding the increasing shortage of young, pharmaceutically qualified persons in our country, of which you are well aware. Your - now in the truest sense of the word - "award-winning" commitment to university teaching will not only be greatly appreciated by "your" students. This special commitment is also a great success for our university.

With 96.2 %, Prof. Dr. Ulrich Jaehde was elected by the members of the German Pharmaceutical Society (DPhG) as President for the years 2024-2027.

Grants from the European Research Council (ERC) are awarded to outstanding researchers and are worth millions of euros in funding. Assistant Professor Yongguo Li from the Institute of Pharmacology and Toxicology at the University of Bonn has now obtained a much-sought-after ERC Starting Grant. The researcher is investigating how the lipid metabolism can be influenced so as to “burn” as many calories as possible, thus opening up potential new ways to treat obesity and diabetes.

Bayer AG, together with the Pharma Center Bonn and the Limes Institute, awarded the PhD prizes for the year 2022. The award ceremony was part of the BIGS DrugS Kick-off Meeting for the new BIGS DrugS class. In addition to the award ceremony, the scientific program included lectures by the awardees and another outstanding young scientist, the presentation of the BIGS-DrugS training program, and poster presentations. Afterwards all attendees celebrated with a beer tapping.

The Scientific Advisory Board of the Pharma-Zentrum-Bonn (PZB) met with the Board members in Bonn. The speaker Prof. Alexander Pfeifer and the vice speaker Prof. Christa. E. Müller presented the center, its tasks and goals.They also presented the successfully acquired projects and the associated graduate school BIGS-DrugS.Afterwards the participants discussed in two groups possible ideas for a successful future of the Center.
